When children were older, Norma returned to work part-time at Brompton Sanitorium Pathology Laboratory.

She loved her haematology – when doctors asked a fast result, they asked Norma as she could sight count cells in 11 minutes and have immediate results for patients.

Here, in 1980, she qualified to be State Registered and became a State Registered Laboratory Scientific officer.
